Marin Coalition is pleased to open its 2022/23 season with Mary Jane Burke, Marin County Superintendent of Schools, and her management team. Ms. Burke will provide an overview and update on Marin County schools, the services they provide, and where she sees the District heading in the future.
In the recent years, school districts have had to adapt to changing environments. The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted in-person learning and how we educate our children. Growing threats of violence in schools have forced schools to be more proactive in mental health programs and school safety measures. Ms. Burke’s team will discuss these challenges and discuss how Marin’s Education Department is addressing these issues.
Marin County schools are also expanding their technical education and occupational programs to better accommodate changing needs. The speakers will share some of these exciting innovative programs.
Marin County has eighteen public School districts. Over the years, much has been discussed about consolidating these districts to increase efficiency and reduce bureaucracy. The speakers will discuss such proposals and what the Department has done to make the District more efficient and effective.
