MARIN HOUSING COMMISSION MEETING
Tuesday, March 22 @ 2:00 PM (Note start time)
www.zoom.us/join; Meeting ID: 947 4251 8384; Password: 352533
This is an important meeting. The Commission is poised to accept the Resident Plan as the preferred plan for Golden Gate Village. Here is the specific agenda item:8c. Request to adopt resolution providing policy direction that Rehabilitation Revitalization is the preferred development option for revitalization of Golden Gate Village consistent with Housing and Urban Development (HUD) compliance and guiding principles.
(FYI:
“Rehabilitation Revitalization” is the name the Housing Commission has
given to the Resident Plan to help assuage HUD. Please try to refer to
our plan by this name when you talk about it.)
While
we know this will only be the first step in what will be a long
process, with more hurdles and caveats along the way, it’s important to
take this moment to support the Commissioners for doing the right thing —
in particular, so that Stephanie Moulton-Peters feels acknowledged for
her efforts in this regard.
It’s been a long, hard fight to get to this point, and ALL OF YOU have
helped. There will be lots more fights to come. For this meeting,
though, let’s celebrate the victory and show appreciation. Here are the
two points we encourage you to express in your own words:
- Thank the Commissioners for seeing the advantages of making the Rehabilitation Revitalization Plan (i.e., Resident Plan) the preferred plan for Golden Gate Village.
- Enthusiastically support MHA’s commitment to having an equal partnership between MHA and the Golden Gate Village Resident Council and Strategy Team to address any compliance criteria required by HUD.
This resolution will be the third item on the agenda. Please raise your hand to speak (in person or virtually) once it’s been brought up, and limit your comments to this item only.
We anticipate there may be a number of people who wish to express support; if so, Katie may decide to give speakers only one minute each, so be prepared. It doesn’t take long to express gratitude. (Although admittedly this is a very rare opportunity.)
