Catalysts Call on Unrealistic Growth Mandates

Zoom
February 10, 2022
5:00 PM PT - 6:30 PM PT

Marin is mandated to increase housing units by 526% in the next Regional Housing Need Allocation distribution. During the previous 8-year cycle, Marin was assigned 2,298 new units. During the next cycle (2023-2031) it increases to 14,405. In a word, most people say, "Ridiculous!!"

French philosopher and writer, Voltaire, said, "Anyone who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities."

We're living in absurd times. How else could you explain top-down state-mandates to build more new, mostly unaffordable housing in a state with a declining population, in a county without a water supply to meet the needs of current residents, and in flood and fire zones?

Who benefits from these absurd, inflated quotas? What can we do? Join colleagues to learn more and discuss actions to make a difference.

Thursday, February 10 *. 5:0i0 pm - 6:30 pm
