The Bay Area’s rocking and rolling Renegade Orchestra performs at Rancho Nicasio on Jan 27.
The Renegade Orchestra began with an idea that local symphonies are full of outstanding players who never get their moment to shine, and rarely get to rock out. At Rancho Nicasio on Jan 27, the Renegade Orchestra will show off their ability to throw off the classical music straight jacket and let their collective hair down.
The Napa Valley Register describes the group,
“…expect the unexpected, or better yet, leave your expectations at the door and go in prepared for a ride.”
The orchestra really does take the listener on an unexpected journey, bouncing from the Stones to Nina Simone with stopovers in Cuba and as the Mercury News puts it,
“This group would rather play Hendrix than Handel.”
The 20-piece orchestra consists of a standard string section paired with a hard-hitting rhythm section.
“We don’t do any overly lush, cheesy arrangements,” says conductor Jason Eckl, “imagine the skill of these amazing string players turned loose on everyone's favorite rock songs.”
The Renegade Orchestra performs at Rancho Nicasio on Jan 27. Rancho Nicasio is a comfortable, funky, historic venue with dinner available.
Tickets are $25 and available online
