MAD Action Alert: Your help is needed

Marin County Community Development Agency
3501 Civic Center Drive
San Rafael, California
February 1, 2022 to February 28, 2022

Approximately 400 sites have been identified for building multi-unit housing in unincorporated Marin County.* This site list is the starting point for site selections to include in the Housing Element. The list will be further analyzed through additional technical work, the CEQA environmental process, and, most importantly we hope, through community feedback.

Because County Planning Staff has stated that they will take community feedback into account when winnowing down this list of housing sites, it’s very important that you submit feedback. Do it this week.

Look at the site addresses here: https://www.marincounty.org/-/media/files/departments/cd/planning/cwp/housing-and-safety-elements/sites/02162022/candidatehousingsites_geography_02162022.pdf?la=en

And submit feedback to the County:

The County is soliciting feedback from the community through a number of different methods:

1. Community workshops - The County already held their community workshops in January and early February.

2. "Balancing Act" – An online tool to create your own Housing Plan out of the list of candidate sites. The tool is open through February 28th. If you need help, or have questions about Balancing Act, County staff will be holding online weekly office hours in February:

Tuesday, February 1, 5-6 PM

Thursday, February 10, 7-8 PM

Tuesday, February 15, 7-8 PM

Tuesday, February 22, 5-6 PM

3. Additional site suggestions – County staff are gathering sites suggestions on this map through February 28th:

If you are unable to attend remote meetings or access the online tools such as Balancing Act, please email housingelement@marincounty.org or call (415) 473-7309.

4. Contact your Supervisor! -- In addition to the above, email your Supervisor directly with your comments, concerns, and questions. Supervisor Katie Rice's email address is Krice@marincounty.org

* Marin County is currently expected to plan for a minimum of 14,405 housing units. That includes cities and towns plus unincorporated areas. Of those, approx. 400 are in unincorporated Marin.
