The Corte Madera Planning Commission will hold a Study Session for a preliminary review of a proposal for a 149-room Residence Inn by Marriott hotel, located at 56 Madera Blvd.

The proposed project would redevelop the existing 5.53 acre site currently occupied by a 110-room hotel (Best Western Corte Madera Inn). As part of the proposal, the existing structures on the site would be demolished and the existing pond would be maintained and its habitat improved. The proposed structure would include approximately 119,000 square feet of floor area and be a maximum four stories in height.

The facility would accommodate 149 rooms, each with an efficiency kitchen, 3,500 square feet of meeting space, outdoor and indoor amenities for hotel guests, including lounge areas, a swimming pool, bar and 24/7 “market”, fitness center and landscaped walkways and seating areas. Habitat within and surrounding the pond would be improved and adjacent public use areas would be created for public enjoyment. Additional measures to meet the Town’s requirements for enhanced sustainability, community integration, design, and improvements to the public realm are also proposed.

The meeting provides the Planning Commission and interested members of the community with an opportunity to gain an understanding of the applicant’s proposal and provide preliminary feedback on issues of policy, planning, and design early in the applicant’s plan development process. The Planning Commission will not take any actions or make any decisions at this meeting. Comments provided to the applicant at the hearing are intended to serve as guidance only, based on information available at this time.
