Center for Cultural Innovation Grants for Bay Area Performing/Media Artists
901 Mission Street Suite 306
San Francisco, California 94103
The Investing in Artists grants program was established by the Center for Cultural Innovation in 2007 to enhance the working lives and strengthen the creative support system for California artists working in all disciplines. Since that time, with the support of the James Irvine Foundation and the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, CCI has awarded more than $2 million to more than two hundred and eighty-five artists working in various disciplines.
The program is designed to support diverse working artists in the Bay Area in dance, music, musical theater, opera, theater, and the performing and media arts. Grants of up to $7,500 will be awarded to individual artists to create new work that pushes the envelope of his or her creative process, explore new artistic collaborations, or support artistic growth and experimentation that extends the boundaries of their art-making.
Applicants must be an individual working artist 18 years or older; organizations are not eligible to apply. All applicants must show proof of permanent residency in the eleven-county Bay Area region (Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, Sonoma, Monterey, and Santa Cruz counties) for at least three consecutive years prior to the application deadline. In addition, artists must maintain permanent residency in the region during the grant award period. Full-time or matriculated students are not eligible.
