Monsanto’s next big moneymaker is a deadly pesticide

From the Center of Food Safety --

"Monsanto’s next big moneymaker is a deadly pesticide named dicamba that travels through the air, wreaking havoc on plants and trees in its path…except for the GMO soybeans and cotton designed to survive it.

To stop the spread of this poison, our legal team sued to get it off our shelves. We know farmers and endangered species cannot take another year of devastating dicamba drift, so we’re demanding the court step in before the 2024 growing season begins.

But we know Monsanto will spend whatever it takes to protect its next big moneymaker. Our team is prepared for a long fight ahead, but it’s going to take major resources to win – can you help us win this case once and for all?

Dicamba is notorious for drifting for miles into neighboring farms, where it’s damaged MILLIONS of acres of crops and is harming trees and pollinators. After farmers sounded the alarm, we sprang into action, demanding that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) halt its use.

In 2020, after 4 years of litigation, a court agreed dicamba’s approval was unlawful and stopped its sale. But then Monsanto intervened, and The EPA re-approved it just months later, despite failing to address its problems.

In fact, EPA’s own studies found extensive damage to crops, including MILLIONS of acres in 2021, and showed grave risk to hundreds of endangered species. It promised to take action, but again bowing to industry pressure, all it did was add a few restrictions in just 3 of the 29 states where damage occurred in 2022 and now again in 2023!

Monsanto is infamous for trying to wear down its opponents by bleeding them dry in court -- it throws unlimited resources into its legal fights hoping its opponents will run out of money and walk away."
