“PASO, HERE WE COME!” CAMPAIGN
Redwings Horse Sanctuary, a 501(c)3 nonprofit horse rescue, was founded in Carmel, California in 1991. When forced to relocate in 2000, Redwings moved to leased property in Lockwood, CA., courtesy of a generous founding member. The dream was always to have a permanent home, and in 2015, thanks to a special bequest, Redwings was able to purchase 141 acres in Paso Robles. Redwings is home to burros from Death Valley, wild mustangs from Pryor, Montana, draft horses, Quarter horses, just to name a few residents.
Redwings is accredited by GFAS (Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries), and, is also an accredited After Care Facility with TAA and CARMA for retired CA. off-track racing thoroughbreds. There are currently about 70 horses on site. The Sanctuary offers public tours, volunteer opportunities, educational outreach programs and a signature Foster-To Adopt Program. Future goals include: expanding programs into the local schools, and implementing an equine therapy program. Redwings is excited to become a community partner in SLO County on the beautiful Central Coast.
On September 30, 2020, Redwings is launching a year-long Capital Campaign,“PASO, HERE WE COME!” to raise money to build their forever home, and, to continue to care for the horses. Donor and Sponsorship opportunities include: personalized brick pavers, personalized metal horse cut-outs on a 6’x16’ outdoor donor wall, pasture naming, arena banners, even naming the building of your choice. Construction is proceeding and Redwings hopes to start moving horses in November, 2020.
