ASCAP Foundation Accepting Submission for Young Jazz Composer Awards
1900 Broadway
New York City, New York
Established in 1975, the ASCAP Foundation is dedicated to nurturing the music talent of tomorrow, preserving the legacy of the past, and sustaining the creative incentive for today's creators through a variety of educational, professional, and humanitarian programs and activities serving the entire music community.
To that end, the foundation, in partnership with the Herb Alpert Foundation, is accepting applications to its Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composer Awards, a program designed to encourage talented young jazz composers. To be considered, applicants must submit an original score or chart of one composition accompanied by a CD indicating proper track (if applicable). Winning submissions will receive a cash prize to be shared equally among the co-writers of the musical work or composition.
To be eligible, applicants must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States or enrolled as a student in the U.S. and have a student visa. In addition, applicants must be under the age of 30 as of December 31, 2017.
For complete program guidelines and application procedures, see the ASCAP Foundation website.
