I saw a delightful and inspiring article and video on the Extractigators--a small group of dedicated volunteers in Marin County that are working to eradicate Scotch broom in various areas of their community.
I am also with a small group of dedicated volunteers--we call ourselves the Humboldt No Ivy League--that is also working to eradicate (bit by bit) the horribly invasive English ivy from our local State Parks in Humboldt County, CA. There are 5 of us that meet on every Friday from 10 a.m. to Noon to pull ivy at Trinidad State Beach and Patrick's Point State Park.
I would love to get in touch with the Extractigators and talk to them about their efforts (and ours) and find out how my husband and I might join them on one of their future Scotch broom bashes the next time we are traveling down that way. We even have our own weed wrenches!
I am hoping by posting this letter that someone from the Extractigators would contact me so we can share our passions for restoring our unique native plants communities in California. My name is Kimberly Tays and you can contact me at kimkat067@gmail.com.
Thank you, Kimberly Tays, Humboldt No Ivy League, Arcata, California
