The virus that causes coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is stable for several hours to days in aerosols and on surfaces, according to a new study from National Institute of Health (NIH), CDC, UCLA, and Princeton University scientists, which was published in the New England Journal of Medicine. The scientists found that Coronavirus can live outside a body in aerosols for up to 3 hours, on copper for up to 4 hours, on cardboard for for up to 24 hours, and on plastic and stainless steel surfaces for up to 3 days.
