Support Local Design Review Boards of Unincorporated Marin County
PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION TO VOICE YOUR SUPPORT FOR OUR MARIN COUNTY DESIGN REVIEW BOARDS
The Design Review Boards of unincorporated Marin County are citizen advisory committees in Tamalpais Valley, Strawberry, and Kentfield that act as local liaisons to the Board of Supervisors, the Planning Commission, and the County Development Agency.

The boards are made up of volunteers from the community, who are appointed by the Board of Supervisors, and work in the best interests of all concerned (the County, property owners, developers, and the community). Their preliminary review of project proposals serves to provide community input and avoid future misunderstandings and litigation when projects run afoul of County’s guidelines and regulations.
Too often, however, their recommendations are summarily ignored by the County. This is unacceptable. The legal authority vested in our local design review boards cannot and should not be circumvented under any circumstances.
As such, Friends of West Tam Valley, recently submitted a letter to the Marin County Community Development Agency demanding that they respect the powers vested in the Tam Design Review Board, and provide them with all the plans, applications, and other documentation they require to undertake a review of a project known as the Alta Way Extension Project. To date, these documents have been denied them.
