Stop MMWD Rate/Fee Hike. Send Protests ASAP. Attend May 28 Rate Hearing

Your Action Needed to Stop Rate/Fee Hike. MMWD Board thinks you don't care.

1. Send a protest letter NOW! - letters must be received before the end of the May 28th, 7:30PM, rate hearing. Click on this link for a Protest Form (provided by the Coalition of Sensible Taxpayers) and instructions on how to submit it. If you are mailing in your protest, do so now! It must be received by the deadline. Marin mail now moves slowly via San Francisco. And mail doesn't move at all on Sunday and Monday of Memorial Day weekend.

2. Attend the MMWD rate hearing Tuesday May 28th, 7:30PM, 220 Nellen Ave, Corte Madera, Let them know this is not OK. Speak up or just be counted. A big crowd of protesters sends that message.

And if you weren't already upset enough about the new capital maintenance fee (starts at $163, $409 or $817 per year depending on your meter size) and a rate hike ... both growing 4%/year for four years...

How about this?: A mandatory $16,000 repaving deposit if you need to upgrade your MMWD meter size to accommodate fire sprinklers in your home! More and more Marin residents will be required to install sprinklers because of demands of building code, home insurers, and fire / municipal agencies concerned about preventing wildfire spread. MMWD's $16,000 repaving deposit comes on top of its charge for upsizing meters (large diameter meters are necessary for sprinklers), which can cost thousands of dollars.
