MAD

When you complete your June 5 ballot, keep this in mind

MarinAgainstDensity urges residents of Corte Madera and Novato to vote for these candidates:

Corte Madera Town Council (3 seats open)

Bob Ravasio
Eli Beckman
Valeria Sasser
(Vote for all three. Do not vote for the fourth candidate.)

Board of Supervisors, District 5 - Novato

Toni Shroyer

MAD urges those who don't live in Corte Madera and Novato to tell their friends who do live there to vote only for the candidates MAD endorses!

About the candidates:

Bob Ravasio -- Corte Madera Town Council
https://www.facebook.com/retainravasio/

A savvy local realtor, 26-year Corte Madera resident and family man, Bob helped bring us our beloved Café Verde community gathering spot and was the only Councilman who questioned the size of the “Tam Ridge Residences” project after ABAG’s humungous 2007 RHNA allocation of 244 units. Bob was previously on the Council, understands the nuances of Corte Madera and is committed to doing the right thing. His firing line experience will help us push back against Plan Bay Area 2040 zoning mandates.

Eli Beckman -- Corte Madera Town Council
https://www.eliforcortemadera.com/

A native of Corte Madera and by far the youngest of the candidates at just 25 years old, Beckman has already impressed us. He is an architect, working in SF and clearly understands scale and building with people in mind. He is a member of the Flood Control Board and has been able to quickly grasp the complexity of the issues. Beckman is focused on the future and believes that planning for the next 50-100 years is important, having a vision versus executing mandates. He is highly intelligent, ready to dig in, and clearly personable. Beckman is a fresh voice and pragmatist, free of agendas.

Valeria Sasser -- Corte Madera Town Council
https://www.valeriasasserforcortemadera.com/

Sasser’s focus is on maintaining all that is good about the area and ‘making community more about common unity’. She has been in Corte Madera 8 years and is thrilled to live in the town. Sasser is originally from Brazil and said she recognizes what happens when systems break down and unfettered development is allowed. She recognizes that keeping rental stock in the Town is important, making sure it’s not sold to the highest bidder for condo conversions. She is a keen researcher and refreshingly, is willing to say, “I don’t know, I’ll do my homework and get back to you.” She has a Master’s degree from SF State and works in SF, within the CA judicial system and with the Brazilian Consulate. She is honest, straightforward and very interested in seeking constituent input. She may be a political unknown but her appreciation for small town Marin, her professional experience and her heart will be a positive add for the Council.

A note about the fourth candidate running for Corte Madera Town Council:

He is pro-high-density-overdevelopment, was pro-WinCup, and was pro-Larkspur Landing Station Area Plan which included 920 housing units on the ferry parking lot. If the fourth candidate is elected, brace yourself for the over-development of Corte Madera, which will affect all of us living in Marin. Do all you can to prevent the fourth candidate from getting votes.

Toni Shroyer -- Novato Board of Supervisors

https://tonishroyer2018.com/

During the 12 years Shroyer’s opponent has served as Supervisor, the County’s budget has soared, amid spending priorities that are increasingly out of synch with regular folks’ needs and ability to pay. Meanwhile, Shroyer has worked with and for Novato citizens, earning a living, raising a family, and experiencing first-hand the challenges of infrastructure deferrals and cuts in services vital to Novato.

Regarding housing, Shroyer says "I’ll use my real estate experience to fight for a neighborhood approach to affordable housing. An approach that’s fair to our workforce, newcomers and existing residents. I will stand up to the bureaucrats and regional agencies that want to force a “one size fits all” stack and pack housing solution on Marin. And I’ll stop the blame game." Shroyer is an independent thinker. Expect her to question County staff reports and the parochial interests of other supervisors. Not beholden to any special interests, Shroyer vows to decline donations from any parties with business that requires a Supervisors’ favorable vote.
