55% of Measure AA Sales Tax Spent on Buses Carrying 4 Riders

55% of Measure AA Funds Marin Transit Buses Carrying an Average of 4 Riders

The average ridership of Marin Transit buses as reported to the US Department of Transit in 2017 is just 4 riders!. Marin Transit is where the majority of the Transportation Authority of Marin's revenue from Measure A has been spent (blue pie slice), and at least 55% of Measure AA's funding will go to Marin Transit should Measure AA be passed in the November election:

This simply isn't cost effective, green transportation, it doesn't relieve traffic or fight climate change. According to Marin Transit's own official ridership figures reported to the US DoT in 2017:

Average passenger miles: 12,727,393

Average vehicle revenue miles: 2,924,754

Dividing one by the other gives you average ridership, which is 4 or 4.35 to be more specific.

$1.6M IN ELECTRIC BUSES TO CARRY AN AVERAGE OF JUST 4 PASSENGERS

Marin Transit just announced it is spending $1.6M on electric buses - buses that will transport an average of just 4 passengers. This may take just 3 cars off the road. Just begin to imagine what could really have been achieved with that money to genuinely fight climate change.

Here is the proposed Measure AA expenditure plan showing 55% of the proceeds will be spent on Marin Transit (see second green row):
