This terrific editorial will appear in tomorrow's edition of the Marin IJ.
Over the years, since CSPP was first founded (8 years ago next Thursday, June 13, to be precise), there has been little support for pension reform voiced by the local press. Since Nels Johnson retired three years ago, we have not seen much in the way of open support for correcting the current pension system. Nels was always fair, thorough, objective and knowledgeable in his reporting on the pension crisis.
This editorial hits the issue head on. While lawmakers avoid addressing the problem, taxpayers pay for those officials' lack of will to do so. Thanks, again, to Transparent California, for providing us with the data to quickly assess where we are at any given time. This is critical.
