The following was emailed to Fairfax Town Manager Garrett Toy on October 22nd, 2018 in regards to the back 18 acres at Victory Village. The developer previously pledged to donate the acreage to become Open Space, but now intends to sell it.
Dear Fairfax Town Manager Garrett Toy,
Regarding the recent article in the Marin IJ, "Fairfax housing project costs prompt land selloff," look at the tape of the Town Council approval hearing. Many people at the approval meeting for Victory Village, including multiple Council Members, thought that the 18-acre Open Space donation by RCD (the developer) was a done deal.
Why didn't staff formalize it and write the donation into the conditions of approval of the project?
I, as many, was on the fence. However, after the donation, I began to support Victory Village publicly as much as anyone cared about my opinion.
I no longer support it because I don't know what it is anymore. I don't think there is a place for RCD’s type of dishonesty in local affairs or national affairs for that matter.
Sincerely,
Charles Cornwell
