CSPP is growing!
The demand for Citizens for Sustainable Pension Plans’ attention has been exploding lately as we have become one of the most influential pension reform groups in California.
Our reports, IJ articles, and relentless efforts to turn over rocks, analyze data, and hold public officials accountable for the massive unfunded pension problem are working! The public is starting to get the message.
We clearly need to keep up the pressure. There is more pension related news these days than ever before. Much of what CSPP needs to do now is add local context and simply amplify it.
In addition, we are looking forward to the California Supreme Court hearing on the Appeals Court decision in MAPE v MCERA. Our attorney, Karol Denniston, is preparing an outline of the amicus brief we will be submitting to the court. This could be, as Dan Borenstein stated, a game changer for pension reform efforts.
We'd like to add a few members from our support group to our team as soon as possible.
I am listing some of the specific fields of expertise that would be very beneficial for our endeavors, and some of the time requirements that might affect your decision.
- We need at least two people with financial expertise.
- Familiarity with actuarial valuations and impacts would be a huge plus.
- We would very much like to have another attorney with knowledge of the public sector, especially pensions and collective bargaining issues.
- Since we have weekly Monday morning meetings and exchange information and ideas via email regularly, retirees would probably find that this fits better into their schedules than those who are employed.
If you have an interest in meeting with us and discussing a place in our CSPP core group, please let us know.
